Previously a police training centre, this historic 17th century country house opened its doors as a PGL activity centre in 2023 after a huge transformation. The centre is surrounded by beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, known for its rolling hills, lush green landscapes and scenic beauty.

What is included in the full price of a May half-term camp?
When you make a booking, everything is included in the price. This includes:
- All of your amazing outdoor activities and equipment
- Three nutritious meals each day for a well-balanced diet
- Evening entertainment such as quizzes, discos, and campfires every night
- Comfortable accommodation for a restful night’s sleep
- 24/7 support from our qualified team of professionals
What will my child take part in during their time on camp?
Your child will always be taking part in a range of our epic outdoor activities, such as Raft Building, Abseiling, Climbing, canoeing, team-building challenges and much more! All of our activities are designed to fuse excitement with education.
How safe will my child be throughout their time on camp?
At PGL it is safety first, always. We go above and beyond to ensure every young person is in safe hands at all times.
PGL have over 15 governing & safety accreditations. Plus we voluntarily apply to Ofsted to be on the Childcare Register.
Everything we do is built on five protective pillars:
- Safe People: Staff are fully trained, DBS checked, and continually assessed.
- Safe Places: All buildings are risk assessed, we have segmented accommodation, secure perimeters and strict equipment standards.
- Safe Spaces: All-encompassing environments, language inclusivity, and SEND-trained staff.
- Safeguarding: Staff are trained in safeguarding, helping them to spot risks and act quickly.
- Safe Travels: All of our travel partners are vetted to make sure they have safety management systems in place, and we ensure travel is adaptable to the needs of all children.
How far from London are the half-term camps?
Marchants Hill is a huge camp complex conveniently located near London in the village of Hindhead. Surrounded by beautiful woodland, it is the ideal setting for our outdoor activities, where children can challenge themselves and make the most of their time with new friends. Do you cater for various dietary requirements?
Yes, we can cater for many dietary requirements at our PGL UK activity centres. We are able to deliver catering provision for dietary requirements as specified by culture, religion and medical concerns. We regularly provide meals for a wide variety of needs including coeliac, diabetic, food allergies and vegetarian/vegan. You will be given the opportunity to let us know about your child’s dietary requirements prior to travel. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a member of the PGL team to discuss these.
Is there evening entertainment available at half-term camp?
May half term wouldn’t be the same without our excellent program of nightly entertainment. For those wanting a boogie – we host fun discos. For the brainboxes in the group, we’ll host fun quizzes with great prizes, plus campfire games and much more along the way!
What's the accommodation like?
You’ll find our half-term camps near London have various types of accommodation. Check out the specific camp pages for further details on the accommodation types at your designated camp location.
Can I pay with childcare vouchers or tax-free childcare?
Yes, we are registered to accept payment from all the major childcare voucher providers at our English centres, and we also accept payments from the Tax-Free Childcare Scheme. Learn more about how to book with PGL using Childcare Vouchers or the Tax-Free Childcare Scheme).
Are the camps split by age groups?
We want your child to be comfortable when they’re at camp, which is why certain ages overlap, meaning a ‘primary school’ 11-year-old could join our 8-11 adventures, and your ‘secondary school’ 11-year-old could join our 11-13 adventures! For teenagers, our adventure camps for 13-16 year olds offer the perfect blend of discovery and fun.

This one is especially for the adrenaline-junkies! Our Theme Park Camps are a thrill-seeker's paradise, packed with our finest white-knuckle PGL activities and two full-day theme parks visits, including Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures, Thorpe Park and Drayton Manor Park.

Aqua Explorer
Each holiday includes a selection of action-packed watersports activities, such as Aqua Parks, Sailing, Wake Boarding and Coasteering. Plus you'll get to take part in our very best PGL watersports - Giant SUP, Raft Building and Dragon Boating to name a few! Half your time will be spent doing specialist watersports and half enjoying classic PGL Multi-Activity.

Pony Beginner
Based at Boreatton Park or Windmill Hill you'll travel to our local riding centre to enjoy six half days of horse riding lessons, stable tasks and fun! For the other half of your break you'll be involved in classic PGL activities back at base - the best of both worlds! No previous experience required, but by the end of the week you can expect to have built up your abilities in the school and out hacking.

Streetdance
Try your hand at Hip Hop, Afro-Beats and Streetdance, all taught by instructors with a UK or international professional dance background from Upside Down Dance Academy. At the end of your stay you’ll get the opportunity to bring all your new skills to life in performance as well as taking part in a dance battle, judged by a special guest social media famous dancer.

Pony Improver
<p style="text-align: center;">Based at Liddington you'll need to be able to canter confidently by yourself to enjoy everything on offer at our partner centre on the outskirts of the Cotswolds! Their instructors will guide you through six half days of lessons, including riding skills in dressage, show jumping and even some cross country schooling, subject to ability. For the other half of your break you'll be involved in classic PGL activities back at base, as with our Beginner break.</p>
