Shropshire May Half-Term Camp FAQs

What's included in the price of a May half-term holiday camp?

When you book one of our May half-term holiday camps, you’ll get all of this included:

  • Access to a range of exciting outdoor activities
  • Three tasty and nutritious meals per day
  • Fun evening activities such as campfires, discos and arts and crafts
  • Comfortable accommodation for a restful night’s sleep
  • 24/7 support from our qualified team of professionals

What should my child pack for camp?

A PGL camp is all about adventure, so packing the right kit can make a big difference! Therefore, we advise bringing comfortable clothing for both indoor and outdoor fun. This includes items such as a waterproof jacket, study shoes (e.g., trainers or boots) and swimwear. Don’t forget pyjamas, towels, toiletries, and any personal items or medication they may need.

For more details, visit our Key Information and FAQs page.

What safety measures are in place at May half-term holiday camps?

At PGL, safety is our top priority. We go above and beyond to ensure every young person is protected, supported, and cared for at all times.  We have over 15 governing & safety accreditations. Plus, we voluntarily apply to Ofsted to be on the Childcare Register.

Everything we do is built on five protective pillars:

  • Safe People: Staff are fully trained, DBS checked, and continually assessed.
  • Safe Places: All buildings are risk assessed, we have segmented accommodation, secure perimeters and strict equipment standards.
  • Safe Spaces: All-encompassing environments, language inclusivity, and SEND-trained staff.
  • Safeguarding: Staff are trained in safeguarding, helping them to spot risks and act quickly.
  • Safe Travels: All of our travel partners are vetted to make sure they have safety management systems in place, and we ensure travel is adaptable to the needs of all children.

Does my child need to bring pocket money with them?

All of our May half-term holiday camps are all-inclusive, covering activities and equipment for the duration of their stay. However, our Shropshire centre does have a retail shop and vending machines where children can buy sweets and souvenirs, so around £5 per day is usually plenty. We also operate a secure system for holding and issuing pocket money, so you can rest assured it’s managed safely and in line with your instructions.

For more information, visit our key information and FAQs page, or contact our team on 03333 212 114.

Do you cater for specific dietary requirements?

We’re able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements at all of our locations. Please visit our Menus and Mealtimes page for further information.

What's the accommodation like?

There are plenty of accommodation options at Boreatton Park. Kids can relax in snug forest cabins, bunk together in our tall timber lodges, or experience the grandeur of the mansion with 8–16 beds per room and easy access to toilets and showers.

Can I pay with childcare vouchers or tax-free childcare?

Yes, we are registered to accept payment from all the major childcare voucher providers at our English centres, and we also accept payments from the Tax-Free Childcare Scheme. Learn more about how to book with PGL using Childcare Vouchers or the Tax-Free Childcare Scheme).

Are there different May half-term camps for children based on age?

Yes, we have specialist camps designed to cater for different age groups, so children can learn and develop with other children of a similar age. Therefore, if your child is of primary school age, they can join our 8-11 adventures, and your ‘secondary school’ 11-year-old could join our 11-13 May half-term camp.
